CB&Q Caboosexxpage 1
04/24/07 Dan brought the patterns home and is duplicating the
pieces of the windows he helped take out.
Dan has a big smile on his face as he planes the boards he will
use for the windows.
Dan is a retired Tool and Die worker, now he loves working with wood.

04/14/07 After years of sitting on a track in Minnesota this caboose
will have a decent restoration. Most of the windows on the caboose
are rotted. We will replace them and paint the car. The caboose was
built in 1871 and is in great condition for its age.

04/14/07 Daniel wears his engineers hat many place she goes.

04/14/07 Dan and Chuck pull the window out of the caboose
that Dan will use for his pattern.

04/14/07 Dan will make enough materials for 8 windows.
![]()
04/14/07 We noticed that the wood behind the window jams
that was pulled out is wet, very wet in fact.
![]()
04/14/07 Now the coarse of action is the removal of all windows which
will allow us to cover the holes with plywood to allow the wood to dry
up before we reinstall the new materials.

04/14/07 Dan removes more parts to be reconstructed.

04/14/07 Gee my vinyl window idea was rejected.
![]()
04/14/07 We could have a company just install vinyl. Your right
this is a restoration not a remodel job.

04/14/07 We are looking for covers for the friction bearings.
Yes this is old equipment and parts are rare.

04/14/07 The CB&Q caboose is missing two covers.
