July 27, 2000
Members of the Domaci Czech Folk Dancers were just one of many
groups that took
part in the 66th annual Kolacky Days parade on Sunday. Made up
of people from
surrounding area Domaci Czech Folk Dancers entertained crowds
on Saturday.
Founded just a year ago, the group of 12 performs traditional
Czech folk dances,
using both traditional music and steps. Another group that appeared
in the parade
was Gopher State Railway Museum with a replica of a train engine.
A non-profit
organization formed in 1990, Gopher State Railway Museum (GSRM),
is a small
group of visionaries that have been working to create a museum
two miles north
of New Prague that will preserve some of the states rich railroad
history. The ultimate
goal of GSRM is to create an interactive museum park, featuring
aspects of a working
branch line railroad. (Jake Keohen and Judy Cathy Photos)
