Chicago Burlington & Quincy Waycar
CB&Q 14534 was built in Galesburg as number 79 in 1871. This waycar is in excellent condition for its age. It was donated to GSRM by MTM in 1995.
Removing windows so they can be remade new from these patterns.
The paint was peeling on the side that gets most of the sun in this picture. A decision needed to be made as to weather we were going to paint the car or work on tamping ties. If the paint wasn't applied we would need new wood soon so I guess there really wasn't anything to decide, we split our crew and some of us painted and others tamped ties. Please see the pictures below of the painted waycar.
Paint applied and awaiting steps this will be a great looking display when complete. We will put additional paint on the caboose and make it the correct color next rime.
We have the beginning of a nice train just waiting to go to our museum property.
